- Synonymous Proverbs

- We know that a synonym is used in
- reference to two words which have basically
- the same meaning. A synonymous proverb then
- is one in which both lines express
- essentially the same thing, but are expressed
- in a slightly different manner.

- Examples of Synonymous Proverbs

- "When a wicked man dieth, his
- expectation shall perish: and the hope of
- unjust men perisheth" (Proverbs 11:7).

- "In the way of righteousness is life;
- and in the pathway thereof there is no death"
- (Proverbs 12:28).

- "The evil bow before the good; and the
- wicked at the gates of the righteous"
- (Proverbs 14:19).

- "A man hath joy by the answer of his
- mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how
- good is it! (Proverbs 15:23).
